Please describe your need for additional financial assistance:My band does not fund academic upgrading at NAIT, I feel that I would benefit more doing upgrading at NAIT. I can get a better feel of the school & the people there as well my chances of getting into the program I want after upgrading are higher.

MY CAREER OBJECTIVES AND INTERESTS

1. Please describe your career goals and how this scholarship would help you to reach them? (max. 100 words)
Overall I want to be able to provide for myself and my family in the future. I’m interested in dental assisting, it’s a good job that I would actually enjoy. This scholarship would help me very much in getting into the school I want to go to and getting my upgrading done so that I can get into my program indefinitely. I would be benefiting very much as an individual. I love the idea of being a dental assistant but I need to get my upgrading done before becoming one and I need this scholarship to do upgrading at NAIT.
2. Please tell us about your education plan for the next 2 to 4 years. (max. 50 words)My plan is to upgrade at NAIT for 1 year and during that year apply for dental assisting. Hopefully get into dental assisting for the next 2 years and once I get my diploma, find a job somewhere that I enjoy in my hometown Wabasca or in Edmonton.
3. Please tell us about both your's and your family's involvement in the Indigenous community. How has it helped to shape the person you are? (max. 100 words)Myself and my family are very involved in our community. My dad always tries his best to help everyone in our community by going to meetings that involve everyone, I know to do the same in the future. I don’t live there but when I go there I always try my best to be involved. We come together when someone needs money or just support from others like rally’s.
4. How might this scholarship enable you to give back to Indigenous communities? (max. 50 words)My dad has told me that my community in Wabasca is in need of dental assistants which is what I want to do after upgrading. This influenced me to go into it. It will be beneficial for everyone living there because dental hygiene is so important.
